Jeremy Corbyn probably isn’t an antisemite… but he IS a liability

Like a bad penny, Jeremy Corbyn is in the news again.

This time, the papers are full of stories about our Jezza following the release of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) investigation into antisemitism in the Labour Party.

The EHRC found Labour’s leadership responsible for numerous breaches of the Equality Act, focused around:

  • A pattern of antisemitic harassment within Labour ranks,
  • A culture of political interference in antisemitism complaints, and
  • A lack of training in complaint handling.

EHRC Lead Investigator Alasdair Henderson placed the blame squarely at Corbyn’s feet:

“As the leader of the party at the time, and given the extent of the failings we found in the political interference within the leader of the opposition’s office, Jeremy Corbyn is ultimately accountable and responsible for what happened at that time,” Henderson said.

Corbyn’s response to the EHRC’s finding was typically combative. He argued that the extent of antisemitism in Labour under his leadership had been “dramatically overstated” by his political opponents.
